Chacabanas is bringing the Cuban sandwich to Cincinnati!

As a child in the Dominican Republic, Helen Ortega grew up watching her grandmother cook at her restaurant, and Helen developed a passion for the kitchen. At the age of 14, she moved to the US and lived with her dad and Cuban stepmother who introduced her to Cuban cuisine.

Helen eventually got her culinary degree and worked at various restaurants in NYC. Through Chacabanas, they are bringing these two cultures and their similar, yet distinct cuisine together to provide a one of a kind experience.

Helen is excited to share the unique flavors of the Cuban sandwich, along with other Cuban and Dominican foods by adding to Cincinnati’s diverse food scene.
